math conditional statements

  • Original: if my lizard is hungry then he will eat. True/ False: this statement is true because most animals will eat when they get hungry.
  • Inverse: if my lizard is not hungry then he will not eat. True/ False: this statement is false because my lizard eats even when he is not hungry.
  • Converse: if my lizard is eating then he is hungry. True/ False: this statement is false because animals aren't always eating because they are hungry but to store body fat for the winter.
  • Contrapositive: if my lizard is not eating then he is not hungry. True/ False: this statement is true because if you flip it, the statement is still true and if he is not eating then he is most likely not hungry.
